Builth can offer many unrivalled attractions: the beautiful, unspoilt countryside ideal for walking, pony trekking and mountain biking; leisure and sporting pursuits, including fishing in the renowned Wye and Irfon Rivers; an attractive but challenging 18-hole Golf Course and a modern Sports Centre providing a wide range of facilities.

The attractive Groe alongside the Wye offers the visitor much - tennis courts, bowling green, putting course, covered swimming pool, dog free playing area for children or, for the less sporting minded, an opportunity to indulge in some of the loveliest walks imaginable.

Entertainment at the Wyeside Arts Centre includes a cinema, as well as exciting and varied live shows, featuring opera, music, ballet and special children's productions. A recent innovation, the annual Festival of Dance, is rapidly becoming a major attraction with an international flavour. The festival is held in May. Wander around the well stocked and interesting shops, providing everything the tourist is seeking, including gifts, crafts, paintings and cards produced by local artists.

In addition to the prestigious Royal Welsh Agricultural Show which takes place in July, other interesting events are held on the showground throughout the year including pony and horse events, dog shows, antique and collectors fairs, all contributing to the attractions of this area. The December Winter Fair, the major winter event of the Welsh farming calendar, offers many features to both agricultural visitor and tourist alike.

The hills and countryside surrounding Builth Wells are an ornithologist's dream; the excitement of observing the Red Kite and other rare birds is an experience never to be forgotten.
